Richard Ruiz

Richard Ruiz is the Owner and Co-Founder of the South Bay Storm, which he established in 2013 alongside Marc Caviglia. Since its founding, Ruiz has been committed to providing college baseball players with high-level competitive opportunities and a platform to continue developing their careers during the summer season.

Ruiz has been deeply involved in the growth of summer collegiate baseball on the West Coast. He was also a Co-Founder of the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League, helping lead and develop the league from 2012 through 2021.

In addition to the Storm, Ruiz has owned and co-founded multiple teams throughout California and Nevada, including the Atwater Aviators in Atwater, California (2009–2020), as well as the Sacramento Heat and the Reno Rams. Through these organizations, he has played a key role in expanding opportunities for collegiate athletes to compete, gain exposure, and continue their development.

Ruiz remains dedicated to growing the game and creating opportunities for players to pursue their baseball careers while strengthening the presence of collegiate summer baseball across the region.
